Summer's End

by Karen Edmisten

August, morning walk.
   The grasshoppers pole vaulting,
a season shifting.

Lovely haiku. That shift is surely in the air, isn't it?

I like the idea of a pole-vaulting grasshopper. Also, please send Florida a memo that it is time to change seasons. :)

Having just helped my brother pick rows of sweet corn, I recognize those grasshoppers! Lovely, Karen, bittersweet too.

I watched the pole-vaulting grasshoppers near my dock today--lovely haiku.

Oh no, not yet! I love fall, but the winter...oh no, I'm not ready! ;-)

I love that pole-vaulting grasshopper. I haven't seen to many, but I still hear them, along with the cicadas, making music all night.

Thanks, everyone!

And for the record, as much as I love autumn, I'm not ready to think about winter either!

I've seen a lot of grasshoppers pole vaulting...sad to see it coming to an end.

Today I had praying mantises visiting me. Signs of the shifting seasons.

I love those pole vaulting grasshoppers. When I was three, I called them hopper-grassers and liked when they jumped in my chubby hands.
